Zoho Mail Review
Zoho Mail delivers ad-free business email on your own domain for a dollar per user, and the Workplace bundle undercuts Google and Microsoft by 75% or more. The trade-off is a workmanlike interface and support that only shines on higher tiers.

Our Zoho Mail review
Zoho Mail is the value play in business email, and the gap is not small: Mail Lite costs $1 per user per month against $7 for the cheapest Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 seats. For a 10-person company that is a difference of $720 a year for what is, at its core, the same job - reliable email on your own domain.
The Forever Free plan is unique among serious providers: up to 5 users on one custom domain with 5 GB mailboxes, at no cost. The catch is that free accounts are limited to web and mobile access, so anyone who wants Outlook or Apple Mail via IMAP has to move to a paid plan. As lead generation goes it is honest - the free tier is genuinely usable for a small operation.
Paid tiers scale sensibly. Mail Premium at $4 brings 50 GB mailboxes plus retention, eDiscovery and S/MIME signing - features Microsoft reserves for enterprise SKUs. Workplace Standard at $3 bundles Writer, Sheet, Show, WorkDrive and the Cliq chat app, which makes it the cheapest complete office suite on the market. None of the pricing is promotional; these are flat renewal rates.
Zoho Corporation is a bootstrapped, privately held company that has never taken venture funding, and it runs its own data centers across the US, EU, India, Australia and beyond, with data residency chosen at signup. There is no ad targeting and no mailbox content scanning, which puts its privacy posture well ahead of free consumer mail.
The weaknesses are polish and support. The web client covers filters, snooze, scheduling and offline mode, but the design feels a generation behind Gmail, and some settings are buried in Zoho's sprawling admin console. Standard support runs 24x5 rather than around the clock, and complex issues can take a few exchanges to escalate. Zoho also constantly nudges you toward the wider Zoho One suite, though the nudges are easy to ignore.
For startups, agencies and any business that just wants professional email without a per-seat tax, Zoho Mail is the default recommendation. Teams living in Google Docs or Microsoft Office all day will still be happier paying more for their native ecosystem.
