Vultr is the third member of the developer-cloud triumvirate alongside DigitalOcean and Linode, and its differentiator is reach: 32 data center locations across six continents, more than either rival. If you need a server in Johannesburg, Santiago or Warsaw, Vultr often has the location the others lack.
Pricing starts at a headline $2.50/mo, though that tier is IPv6-only; a normal instance with an IPv4 address starts at $5 for 1 vCPU and 1GB RAM. The High Frequency line runs 3GHz+ CPUs on NVMe and benchmarks noticeably faster for single-threaded work like WordPress.
The product surface has grown well beyond plain compute - Kubernetes, managed databases, block storage, bare metal and a large GPU cloud - while keeping the flat, predictable per-month caps that made these providers popular.
Support is the weak flank. There is no phone number and no live chat, just tickets, and response quality varies. Vultr is best suited to users who can solve their own OS-level problems and just need reliable infrastructure underneath.
