Migadu Review
Migadu turns email pricing upside down: you pay for capacity, not seats, so unlimited mailboxes across unlimited domains cost from $19 a year. Accept the pooled storage and daily send quotas and nothing else comes close on price per mailbox.

Our Migadu review
Every mainstream email host charges per user, which quietly turns a 10-person company or a hobbyist with 8 domains into a recurring tax. Migadu's model is the exception: plans are priced per account with unlimited mailboxes and domains, and what you actually buy is a storage pool and a daily message quota. For agencies, families and anyone who hoards domains, the economics are absurd in a good way - a $90/year Mini plan can host every mailbox for every project you own.
The honest framing matters, and Migadu itself is refreshingly blunt about it: "unlimited" mailboxes share limited resources. The Micro plan gives the whole account 5 GB and just 20 outbound messages a day, which suits low-volume personal domains and catch-alls, not a business. Mini raises that to 30 GB and 100 messages a day, enough for a small team of light senders. If your team lives in email all day, price the Standard tier or a per-user provider instead, because hitting the outbound cap mid-afternoon is the plan working as designed.
Operationally, Migadu is a Swiss company (Migadu-Mail GmbH, registered in Zug) with infrastructure hosted in France. It takes a standards-first position that power users appreciate: plain IMAP, SMTP and standard webmail rather than proprietary protocols, wildcard aliases, per-domain admin, and painless DNS setup with sensible DKIM/SPF/DMARC guidance. There is no tracking, no advertising, and the privacy policy reads like it was written by a human.
The admin console is the sleeper feature. Each domain gets its own management space with mailboxes, aliases, identities and rewrites, and you can delegate admin per domain - something Google Workspace charges enterprise money for. Creating a new mailbox takes seconds and costs nothing, which changes how you use email: one mailbox per project or client stops being an expense line.
The trade-offs are real. The webmail is functional but plain, spam filtering is decent rather than class-leading, and support on the cheaper tiers is explicitly best-effort. There is no formal SLA, and the pooled quotas mean one runaway mailbox can eat the account's storage. None of this is hidden; Migadu's own pricing page is one of the most honest in the industry, including a section on why you might not want them.
For its natural audience - developers, agencies, families and small teams with many domains and moderate volume - Migadu is the best value in email hosting, full stop. Heavy senders and teams that want polished collaboration suites should look at Zoho or mailbox.org instead.

Frequently asked questions
Is Migadu really unlimited mailboxes?
Yes, on every plan including the $19/year Micro. What is limited instead is the account-wide storage pool and the number of messages you can send and receive per day, so the plans fit low-to-moderate volume, not bulk sending.
What are Migadu's sending limits?
Outbound messages per day: 20 on Micro, 100 on Mini, 500 on Standard and 2,000 on Maxi, counted across the whole account. Inbound limits are 10x higher. If your team sends heavily all day, size up or choose a per-user provider.
Bottom line
Migadu turns email pricing upside down: you pay for capacity, not seats, so unlimited mailboxes across unlimited domains cost from $19 a year. Accept the pooled storage and daily send quotas and nothing else comes close on price per mailbox.
