Our Liquid Web review
Liquid Web has been the reference brand in fully managed hosting since 1997. The pitch is not the hardware, which is solid but unremarkable - it is Heroic Support: 24/7 phone and chat staffed by real admins, with a 59-second initial response target and the authority to log in and fix things.
Managed VPS starts with intro pricing around $8.50/mo for 2 vCPU/4GB (roughly $17 at renewal), climbing through 8GB and 16GB tiers. Every plan can run InterWorx, cPanel or Plesk, and management covers the OS, patching, security hardening and the control panel stack.
Above the VPS line sit Cloud Metal, single-tenant cloud servers on dedicated hardware from around $115/mo, and traditional managed dedicated boxes from about $199/mo. The company also owns Nexcess, its managed WordPress and WooCommerce arm, so ecommerce workloads have a native path.
The SLA is stronger than the developer clouds: 100% network and power uptime with credits, backed by three owned data centers in Michigan plus Phoenix and Amsterdam.
The value equation is the whole question. You can rent five Hetzner servers for the price of one Liquid Web VPS. If you have in-house Linux skills, do that. If server administration is a distraction from your business and downtime costs real money, Liquid Web is what the premium buys.
Notable facts
- Owns Nexcess, the managed WordPress and WooCommerce platform
