Contabo Review
Contabo sells more RAM, cores and disk per dollar than anyone, and you feel the corners that were cut in support response times and peak-hour performance. Superb for hobby projects, risky for production.

Cons
- Support is slow and limited to business hours
- Oversubscribed nodes mean performance varies with noisy neighbors

Our Contabo review
Contabo is the budget king of the VPS world. The entry Cloud VPS packs 4 vCPU, 8GB RAM and 100GB NVMe for roughly $6/mo - specs that cost $48 at DigitalOcean. On raw quantity of compute per dollar, nothing else in this roundup is close.
The catch is how that price is achieved: dense oversubscription. Contabo packs more virtual machines per physical node than premium clouds, so sustained CPU performance is lower and more variable than the spec sheet implies. Benchmarks routinely show half the per-core throughput of Hetzner or UpCloud.
Support is the other economy measure. There is no 24/7 live support; tickets and phone run on German business hours, and complex issues can take days. If your server dies on a Saturday night, you wait.
Watch the checkout math. Monthly billing attracts a setup fee, US and APAC regions carry surcharges, and the advertised price generally assumes a longer term in a European region. There is also no standard money-back guarantee, so test with one month before committing.
Used with eyes open, Contabo is excellent value: game servers, dev environments, self-hosted apps, backup nodes and hobby projects where an occasional slow patch is acceptable. For revenue-critical production traffic, spend more at Hetzner or UpCloud.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Contabo so cheap?
Higher server density, business-hours support and add-on fees for things premium clouds bundle. The hardware is real; the margin for guaranteed performance is what you give up.
