Our Vodien review

Vodien has been the default answer to "who hosts .sg businesses?" since 2002. It grew into Singapore's market-leading hosting brand before being acquired by Australia's Dreamscape Networks (the Crazy Domains owner) for about S$30 million in 2017; Dreamscape was in turn bought by Web.com in 2019, which merged into Newfold Digital in 2021. Vodien today is therefore a Newfold brand, run alongside Crazy Domains, though it still operates and supports customers from Singapore.

The local case remains real. Hosting in Singapore puts content one or two milliseconds from Singaporean users and keeps latency low across Southeast Asia, versus 180 ms or more from US datacenters. Local hosting also keeps data under Singapore's PDPA regime, and Vodien's long history with SGNIC domains, local invoicing and Singapore-hours-plus phone support still makes procurement easy for local businesses.

The current shared lineup is compact: WebValue (15 GB NVMe, 5 sites, 10 mailboxes) and WebPlus (30 GB, 10 sites, 20 mailboxes), both on cPanel with unmetered bandwidth, free SSL on promo and Monarx malware protection. Discounts are shallow by industry standards, 17% and 15% respectively on two-year terms, but that honesty cuts both ways: there is no 4x renewal ambush, just steady prices that were never cheap.

And that is the rub. At roughly S$10 to S$21 a month, Vodien charges two to three times what Hostinger asks for its Singapore-region plans with more storage. What you buy for the difference is the local institution: a Singapore support desk on chat, phone and tickets around the clock, and two decades of running .sg infrastructure.

Choose Vodien if you want a Singapore-rooted provider your finance team and IT auditors already know, and prepay two years for the built-in renewal discount. Choose an international host's Singapore region if raw value matters more. Pricing was gathered from Vodien's pages via search on the review date because the site blocks automated fetches; standard (non-promo) rates are derived from the advertised discount percentages, so confirm exact renewals at checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Is Vodien still a Singapore company?

It still operates and supports customers from Singapore, but ownership has moved offshore: Dreamscape Networks acquired it in 2017, Web.com bought Dreamscape in 2019, and the group became part of US-based Newfold Digital in 2021.

Is Vodien worth the premium over global hosts?

If you value a local support desk, Singapore invoicing and an established .sg institution, yes. If you only need low latency in Singapore, international providers with Singapore datacenters offer more resources for less money.

Bottom line

Vodien remains Singapore's establishment host with solid local infrastructure and support, but under Newfold ownership it prices like an institution: you pay a clear premium over international rivals hosting in the same city.
