SiteGround sits at the top of most shared hosting shortlists for a simple reason: the platform is engineered rather than resold. Since 2020 all shared and cloud accounts run on Google Cloud, fronted by SiteGround's own Linux containers, a custom ultrafast PHP implementation and layered caching that the SG Optimizer plugin exposes to WordPress with one click.
The company replaced cPanel with its own Site Tools panel, and it is one of the few custom panels that feels like an upgrade. Common jobs like adding an SSL, creating a staging copy or restoring one of the 30 daily backups take a couple of clicks, and the interface stays quick even on large accounts.
Plans are sized by traffic as much as by storage. StartUp handles a single site of around 10,000 visits a month; GrowBig adds staging, on-demand backup copies and unlimited sites; GoGeek layers on priority support, Git integration and roughly 400,000 visits of headroom. Storage got a welcome bump in the current lineup, at 10, 50 and 100 GB respectively.
The value question is entirely about renewals. $2.99, $4.99 and $7.99 promos look competitive, but they renew at $17.99, $29.99 and $44.99. Over three years SiteGround costs two to three times what a budget host does, and roughly double what fellow quality-tier hosts like ChemiCloud renew at. You are paying for the stack and the support, and the invoice makes sure you know it.
Support remains a genuine differentiator. Tickets routinely get useful first responses in minutes, and agents will actually look at your account rather than paste macros. Chat and phone are available around the clock once you are logged in.
