GoDaddy is the biggest name in domains, and its hosting business rides that gravity: millions of customers add an Economy plan at checkout because it is one click away. As a pure hosting product, though, it trails the best budget hosts on both features and pricing transparency.
The shared plans are conventional cPanel hosting with a free domain and SSL. What is missing matters: automatic backups are a paid add-on, email is a separate Microsoft 365 subscription after the trial, and there is no bundled CDN. Rivals at the same price include all three.
Renewal pricing is the biggest caveat. GoDaddy's advertised intro rates ($5.99 to $12.99/mo on three-year terms) are ordinary enough, but reported renewal rates vary from roughly $10 to over $15/mo for Economy depending on term and promotion.
